Kyza & Focused Few
biographyKyza's back. Ladbroke Grove's finest unleashes his second album on the masses. His most mature, personal and diverse body of work to date with productions from the likes of Ghosttown, Chemo, 2Tall, King Knut and Bless Beats. S.O.S (Shots of Smirnoff) has the legendary cold and razor sharp street rhymes he's famed for, with humorous and introspective lamentations, and demonstrates Kyza's (lesser known) incredible voice. The first single 'Love and Music' was released with massive support from MistaJam [BBC 1Xtra], appearing on Tim Westwood [BBC Radio One], DJ MK and Shortee Blitz [KISS], Ras Kwame [BBC Radio One], DJ 279 [Choice], Sarah Love [1Xtra] and B-List playlisted on BBC 1xtra. Dystopic single 'Sin City' [produced by CHEMO] b/w the fiery 'Go' [produced by BLESS BEATS, who also made the number one global smash 'WEARING MY ROLEX' by WILEY], were released shortly after and have wet the public's appetite for Kyza's massive new album. Mixed in it's entirety by Foreign Beggars' DJ Nonames - cuts and mixes tie the album together perfectly. 'Murderman' opens with more energy and eloquence than most rappers have on their entire album. On the summer vibes of 'Zonin' Kyza demonstrates his broad vocal range, showing exactly how accomplished he is as a singer. 'Dumb' and 'Don't Touch Me' prove he hasn't left behind the raw lyricism that has built a strong fan base that's earned him the respect he has to date as one of the country's top MCs. Big things await Kyza, with another album coming next year, and nationwide wide tour with live band Focused Few - with members including DJ Nonames, Macy Gray and Plantlife's backing singer and bassist from Roots Manuva's band. Focused FewFocused Few, a 6 piece hip-hop band based in London comprising of 2 vocalists, DJ, keys, bass/guitar and Pravvy Prav on drums - have executed the art of producing and playing live hip hop with a soulful edge. They are no newcomers to the game, having established themselves as thoroughbreds on the live music circuit playing gigs at venues such as the Jazz Café, Hackney Ocean, Cargo, Live Bar and warehouse/basement parties around the capital. Members have played for and with the likes of Roots Manuva, Nitin Sawhney, Plantlife and Dented Records' own Foreign Beggars. Add to this the new additions of LA songstress Audra Nishita, a former backing singer for Macy Gray and Alero Scott, a talented young homegrown singer/songwriter and youve got a bucket load of talent at your disposal. More recently, Focused Few have teamed up with UK HipHop talent KYZA (formerly of Terra Firma fame), working and incorporating the 'fewness' into his productions - check out the BBC Maida Vale sessions aired on Ras Kwame's show on Radio 1 (www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/raskwame) for a lil' taste. This year the FF will be working with Kyza on new material in addition to touring the UK with Kyza's Shots of Smirnoff (S.O.S) tour - kicking kicking off with the launch party at Jazz Cafe, 12th June 2009. Kyza is currently available backed by Nonames for a DJ set oriented performance ideal for smaller venues or for real live music excitement, he is also available for a limited time together with Nonames and Focused Few for the "Shots of Smirnoff" live PA.
