Carpetface & Audible
biographyThe unique thing about CARPETFACE & AUDIBLE as a UK based hiphop act, outside an impressive range of vocal, dj, production, song-writing, arrangement and instrumental skills, is the old-school, funk-based, positive and classic feel of their music - this could well be the first UK hiphop act able to truly break into the American hiphop market, as audience feedback on previous US tours has proved. Their sound is transatlantic despite it's UK roots and has a great deal of surreal humour and block-party vibes which appeal to hiphop enthusiasts of all age-groups, with something for both old and nu-skool heads. At the centre of this mix are infectiously catchy call-and-answer pop hooks and choruses for maximum crowd involvement. The Baboon Shampoo EP is a 5-track taster of what's to follow in their forthcoming album "LAND OF THE GOOSENECK STEPPERS" out late 2009 / early next year - a catchy, funky and original hiphop project with a warped sense of humour, co-written and produced by Carpetface & Audible, who began recording whilst on tour in France, January 08. They are currently 14 tracks into the project and have been testing them out on live audiences in the UK and France over the last year with very positive feedback. The main aim of this collaboration is to produce a refreshingly modern and internationally accessible take on classic hiphop, As is obvious from the varied list of major acts they've supported, their particular brand of entertainment appeals to a much wider range of music fans than the majority of UK urban acts. CARPETFACE : Mad Skills Live: MC / Singer / HumanBeatbox / MusicianWith a talent for hooks and melodies, hunger for studio-experimentation, impressive stage presence, lyrical prowess and range of vocal styles, London-born international songwriter, producer, rapper, singer/songwriter, beat-boxer and multiinstrumentalist CARPETFACE continues to independently impress live audiences, the music press and the record-buying public with a steadily growing worldwide fanbase for his heady and infectious blend of hip-hop, funk, reggae, soul and breaks, which has reached thousands of people worldwide through his hundreds of live shows, his 2005 debut double-album, EP and single releases on cd and vinyl, online through ITUNES and youtube and via press reviews, video broadcasts and soundtrack exposure on MTV, Sky, and airplay on radio-shows worldwide. Solely using an sm58 microphone his no-holds-barred, vocal vs vinyl attack routine will hold any venue in awe. Starting out from an early age as a formidable scratch DJ, Audible began the mad quest to merge vinyl and vocal control to take live hiphop to the next level while honing his skills as a producer in between hundreds of tourdates all over the world. With an album in the pipeline the future looks noisy for Audible. "Out of all the beatboxers we have had in the studio, Audible has been the one where i have had to watch his mouth because he simply makes to many noises at once. Wrong!" - Tim Shaw, Kerrang Radio "Audible's kick drums boom and his snares fire like a machine gun - killer beatboxing from the best around!" - LB DOPE, Alabama 3 THE LIVE SHOWCARPETFACE & AUDIBLE have played well over 600 live sets together in the last 5 years alone, carpeting the world promoting the first album, with live tours and radio appearances all over the place including performances all over the UK and a further 14 tours abroad, including both coasts of the USA, SPAIN, FRANCE, SWITZERLAND, GERMANY, POLAND, SOUTH AFRICA, GAMBIA, UGANDA and JAPAN, supporting the following artists to name but a few, knocking audiences sideways with their cross-genre appeal and winning over an international audience in the process: DE LA SOUL, THE PHARCYDE, UGLY DUCKLING, DJ FORMAT, MR SCRUFF, BREAKESTRA, THE FEELING, KAISER CHIEFS, THE VERVE,KT TUNSTALL, RACONTEURS, VAMPIRE WEEKEND, BILL BAILEY, GUILLEMOTS, DJ YODA, BLACK TWANG, KANO, BEZ, DJ KRUSH, ED BYRNE, BLACK REBEL MOTORCYCLE CLUB, KEANE, GURU & DJ PREMIERE, SNOW PATROL, KILLA KELA, ALABAMA 3, BLADE, FREESTYLERS, PETE DOCHERTY, LIBERTINES, STEREO MC's, SKINNYMAN, RAGGA TWINS, MR THING, DJ FIRST RATE, CHAD JACKSON, JUNIOR SENIOR, ARTHUR BAKER, DJ VADIM, BOBBY GILLESPIE, EMF, PHI LIFE CYPHER, FOREIGN BEGGARS, BLADE, ASIAN DUB FOUNDATION, DUB PISTOLS, DREADZONE, MASSIVE ATTACK, BIFFY CLYRO, MORCHEEBA, DOM & ROLAND, DIRTY SANCHEZ and many more! Their live show consists of a minimum 2-piece concoction of infectious party music on 2 decks, 2 mics and a Roland Handsonic to make any crowd shake their stuff - a positive party vibe comprising old-school hiphop, funk, soul, reggae and breaks. As well as performing brand new material from their forthcoming second album "LAND OF THE GOOSENECK STEPPERS", their set also features a track or two from Carpet's critically acclaimed debut double-album, "HAVE MIC, WILL TRAVEL" (released 2005). Add to this the simply wrong beatboxing and turntable skills of AUDIBLE with no-holds-barred solo material, their double-beatbox impro-jams, vocal scratching and free-for-all sections throughout the show over Carpet's live manipulation of the Roland Handsonic electronic drumkit and you have the CARPETFACE & AUDIBLE experience, holding any venue in awe with both their individual and combined skills, the tightness of their freestyle interplay and crowd-moving DJ selections and cuts either side of the live set. |
